Join us!

We encourage any woman of the six Tewa-speaking pueblos who enjoys singing to join us!

Contact our director,

Susan Roller Whittington

or any current choir member!

Are you a "Tewa?"  Come join us!

Our current members range in age from 60 (our director) to almost-90!  We're always looking for new recruits from our Tewa-speaking pueblos who are willing to devote at least 4 hours every month for our liturgical commitments.

We sing the 7:30 a.m. Sunday Liturgy at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo usually the first Sunday each month.  Check the "Appearances" page (click on tab at top of this page) for our next liturgical assignment. We rehearse for two hours on the Thursday before our Sunday liturgy and then 30 mins. warm-up rehearsal at 6:45a of the Sunday liturgy.

We enjoy our public venue outings and have performed at the New Mexico State Fair Indian Village and several museum exhibit openings.  We entertained attendees at the 2012 Miss Hopi Pageant in Keams Canyon, Arizona in July 2012 and the Volunteers of the Albuquerque Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in December 2012.  Private parties are also a possibility.

Give us a "hollar!"

Musicians also welcome!

Do you feel comfortable playing drum, rattles, bells, etc?  Bring your instrument and come join us!

My Tewa isn't so good or non-existent...

We'll teach you to sing in Tewa with the correct pronunciation!
